Pointful Teacher Guide

Pointful courses contain several learning items such as: Lessons, Reflections, Short Answer Assignments, Projects, Quizzes, and a *Final Exam.

(*Final Exams are only available in second semester (S2) and year long courses (Year). First semester (S1) courses do not have a Final Exam)

Lessons

Students will earn completion points for accessing each section of a lesson. Once all sections are accessed, the students will earn x/x points for completing the lesson depending on the number of sections the lesson has. If the student navigates away from the lesson before completing all parts of the lesson, the grade will reflect partial points. Once the student returns to the lesson and accesses all sections, the score will be updated in the gradebook.

Reflections, Short Answer Assignments, and Projects

These items are teacher graded. Students will submit their work via a submission box.

Grading Submissions

First, click on the item with the paper icon in the gradebook. Next, click on the blue link next to Activity to view the directions/requirements/rubric for this item.

After reviewing the directions/requirements/rubric, return to the gradebook tab and click the back arrow on your browser to return to the grading screen. Review the student's work, enter a score, leave any appropriate feedback, and finally use the Submit Score button to submit the score.

Quizzes

Module quizzes allow unlimited attempts for students to self-check their understanding. Students can click the Try Again button at the bottom of the quiz to allow a retry.

If the student navigates away from the quiz or moves on to another lesson, the quiz will end and the score will be submitted to the SchoolsPLP gradebook.

Final Exam* (includes directions on how to reset/allow a retry)

To access the reset button for a Final Exam, click the blue link next to Activity.

Use the dropdown arrow on Student's Progress and Performance to select This Module.

Click "MORE INFO" to access the reset screen

Click the RESET button to reset one or both parts of the Final Exam.

Warning Message: Click YES if you would like to proceed with resetting the test. All answers in the test will be cleared for the student and they will not have access to their previous attempt.

One point will remain from when the student accessed the Final Exam Video. This point cannot be reset.

The student's score in the gradebook will show the updated grade.

Once the student retakes the Final Exam, the grade will update in the SchoolsPLP gradebook.
