How to Use the Accommodation/SpeechStream Toolbar

Accommodation/SpeechStream Toolbar

Descriptions of each section of the toolbar are listed below from left to right.

Compass

Click on the compass icon on the toolbar in order to move the toolbar to a different location on the screen.

Text-to-Speech

Select the pointer icon and click anywhere in the text to start the read aloud.

Play

Clicking the play icon will begin reading at the top of the page.

Stop/Pause

To stop or pause text playback, simply click the stop or pause icons.

Translation

To translate, select your desired text and click the translation icon. The translated text will appear in a separate text box. If a play icon is present on the left, the translated text can be read aloud.

Dictionary

Highlight a word on the page and click the dictionary icon for a definition of the word. If a play icon is present on the left, the definition can be read aloud.

Picture Dictionary

Highlight a word on the page and click the picture icon to see a picture representation of the word.

Screen Mask

Select the Screen Mask icon to apply a tinted narrow reading area. This feature can help to improve focus and reduce distractions.

Enlarge Text

Select the magnifying glass icon to enlarge the text as it is being read aloud.

Settings

Select the gear icon to change your Accommodations/SpeechStream settings. You can change the audio voice speed, text highlight colors, magnifier size, speech mode, translation language, and screen tools.

**The Accommodation/SpeechStream Toolbar may not be enabled in all items or courses. If you have questions, reach out to your teacher.
